The lingering excitement of new places, new tastes, new smells, new breezes, new rain, new sun, new oceans, new clouds, new successes, new failures, new feelings, and new sights – it’s all there. Travel. The ultimate love/hate relationship.
My little family of three recently took a seven day cruise to Alaska with the rest of our immediate family: two grandparents, an auntie and cousin. The grandparents chose to try the Silversea cruise company, and we cruised on the Silver Shadow. It was a lovely small vessel where it was easy to get to know the kind staff and simple enough to find each other without wandering around for hours.
The seven day trip started in Vancouver, Canada (shoutout to the Vancouver Airport – seriously nice!). We cruised to the standard Alaska destinations: Ketchikan (which felt like Oregon and Washington), Juneau, Skagway, Sitka (seriously dreamy town), and then eventually disembarking in Seward.
A super fun trip. Easy. Relaxing (as much as a family trip can be with a seven and nine year old!). Great food. Tea times! Good coffee. Great scenery. And minimal sea sickness.
Since it’s not really my jam to share a bunch of family images (those go in scrapbooks), I would however like to share a few images I took along the way that I feel express the emotions evoked by the places we visited.
