Austria and Germany

the city center of Berchtesgaden, Germany
The quaint (but overrun in busy season) German town (right over the Austrian border), of Berchtesgaden. The area around here is stunning.

Stiftskirche St. Peter und Johannes der Täufer in Berchtegaden, Germany. Extra stunning on this moody and broody day.
Burg Hohenwerfen
Lookin’ down the barrel of a cannon at Burg Hohenwerfen. Just south of Golling, and about a 30 minute drive south from Salzburg. The little town of Werfen, a 10 minute walk downhill from the castle, is pretty cute, too.
The Eagle's Nest, Germany. View.
Top of the rock at Kehlsteinhaus. Hitler’s “Eagle’s Nest” during the second World War. Stunning, like really, views from the top. To reach, take the bus from Obersalzburg, Germany. The lake seen in the distance is Konigssee.

Burg Hohenwerfen. You might remember her from the classic film, Where Eagles Dare.
